Smart Manufacturing and Intelligent Manufacturing: A Comparative Review

The application of intelligence to manufacturing has emerged as a compelling topic for researchers and industries around the world. However, different terminologies, namely smart (SM) intelligent (IM), have been applied what may be broadly characterized similar paradigm by some practitioners. While SM IM are similar, they not identical. From an evolutionary perspective, there little consideration on whether definition, thought, connotation, technical development concepts or consistent in literature. To address this gap, work performs qualitative quantitative investigation research literature systematically compare inherent differences clarify relationship between IM. A bibliometric analysis publication sources, annual numbers, keyword frequency, top regions establishes scope trends currently presented research.
